I started by blog in 2002 on Movable Type to, as I wrote at the time, "serve as a community for friends and associates -- anyone who wants to discuss innovation in technology, politics, or any element in our society." Even though I had started a magazine I still found it nearly impossible to publish -- personally. From time to time I would get to write or edit something, but that was for the magazine, not for me. I found blogging to be something that was much more liberating, and a compelling way to engage with a community even when I wasn't with them in person. I also started to blog because I had spent my career being passionate about the intersection of media, technology, and a strong belief in the individual, and blogging hit the bulls-eye. I had no idea at the time that it would lead me to start a blog reading company, which would then lead me to joining one of the great blog companies around. Looking back, I really didn't have a well thought out plan for my blog -- it was easy to start and I thought it would be fun. I'm glad I didn't over think it, otherwise I may never have started, and wouldn't be having the kind of fun I'm having today!
Why did you start blogging?
