You don't just have readers of your blog, you have followers. People probably follow your site via RSS or follow you on Twitter or Facebook. With the new TypePad following is now built in. Follow blogs and bloggers and get their updates in your TypePad Dashboard. And with this handy TypePad Profile module, you can make it easy for your readers to follow you.

What is the difference between a "reader" and a "follower"?

Great question. To me, a "reader" is just someone who reads your post. A follower is someone who regularly follows you or your blog. Following for blogs really got going as RSS readers emerged, because a regular reader could follow or subscribe to a blog. Now, we see a lot of bloggers with followers or friends on services like Twitter or Facebook. A lot of bloggers will write a post and then Tweet to their followers with a link to that post, for example. This is why we have automatic cross posting to Twitter and Facebook. What's new here with TypePad is that you can now follow a TypePad blogger with a TypePad accountm, and can use your TypePad Dashboard to see updates from the people you follow.
